Welcome to Down Under Genetics
Your link between the
Australian Wagyu herd and
the developing U.S. Wagyu herd.
Down Under Genetics LLC is a joint venture
of Prescott Ranches and the Gordon Cattle
Company of Colorado that provides access
to the most advanced Wagyu Genetics
from Australia to the United States. Donor
animals have been selected by cattlemen
for cattlemen to compliment and to
supplement the U.S. herd.

The Aussie Connection
Australia has a long history as a beef
supplier for Japan. As that very solid
business developed, the Australians
perceived a need to improve the
quality of their beef and thus began
a long and very complex attempt
to bring Wagyu beef to Australia.
For those unfamiliar with Wagyu beef,
you may be more familiar with the
well known Kobe beef. Kobe beef is
often sold at high-end restaurants in
the States, and the price should get
any beef producer interested. A
restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ, for
example, recently offered Kobe
beef on the menu for $250. Kobe
beef comes only from Wagyu cattle.
